The short version

Vibe Island does the most — 25 agents, approve-from-notch, SSH remote — but it's paid, closed-source, macOS-only. CodexBar tracks 60+ providers' usage, free and open, on the Mac menu bar. ccusage is a free CLI usage reporter. All good tools.

Agent Island combines a free MIT license, native macOS and Windows apps, live session state, and a foreground alert when a run needs you:

  • Windows, natively. Vibe Island and CodexBar are macOS-only. Agent Island ships a native Windows (WPF) app with live session state and your-turn alerts.
  • A real turn alarm. When a background run finishes, Agent Island opens a foreground alarm, plays a sound, and takes you back to the thread.
