Running into an exhausted window mid-task is the expensive kind of surprise. These thresholds move the bad news earlier.
Before you start
- At least one provider signed in and reporting quota
1. Open the alerts page
Go to Settings → Alerts. This page is about quota thresholds — it is a different thing from the turn alarm, which lives under Status guide.
2. Switch on approaching-limit alerts
One switch turns the whole behaviour on.
3. Set the warning threshold
The default is 60%. This is the point where you would still have time to change what you are doing — start the smaller task, not the migration.
4. Set the critical threshold
The default is 80%. This is the point where you want to know immediately, whatever you are in the middle of.
5. Know what happens at 100%
The island shows the exhaustion state. For Codex specifically, an optional auto-switch can rotate to your next parked account when the active quota reads exhausted — see the Codex account guide.
If it does not work
Confirm the provider actually reports a quota window; not every plan does. Then check that notifications are allowed at the system level.
Lower the warning threshold. 60% is a starting point, not a recommendation for every workflow.
Raise the warning threshold or turn it off and keep only critical.
